Website and waitlist privacy

This notice covers getsanmaru.com and its Android waitlist. OtterVolt Labs runs both and is responsible for the data described here. The Sanmaru app has its own privacy policy.

What we collect

When you join the waitlist:

• Your email address.
• Your browser’s language setting.
• The country your request came from, as worked out by our hosting provider. We don’t keep your IP address.
• The campaign that sent you here, if the link you followed had one (such as utm_source).
• When you signed up, confirmed, and unsubscribed, and when we last emailed you.

To stop automated sign-ups, the form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which looks at signals from your browser and device. Cloudflare processes these to tell people from bots, and we don’t receive them. This site sets no advertising or analytics cookies.

Why we use it

• To confirm that the address is yours (one confirmation email).
• To tell you once when Sanmaru is available on Android, in your language where we can.
• To count sign-ups and see which links bring people here.

We use your email only for these purposes, and only because you asked to join and confirmed your address. We don’t sell it, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Who handles it for us

• Cloudflare, Inc. hosts this site and stores the waitlist.
• Resend sends our emails.

Both are based in the United States, so your data may be processed outside your country, including outside Japan and the EU. They process it only on our instructions.

How long we keep it

• If you never confirm your address, we delete your sign-up after 30 days.
• If you confirm, we keep it until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
• If you unsubscribe, we keep your address marked as unsubscribed, so we never email you again. Ask us and we’ll erase it completely.

Your choices

Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. You can also ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to hello@getsanmaru.com. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Children

Sanmaru is for students, but this waitlist is not for young children. If you’re under 16, ask a parent or guardian to join with their email instead.

Changes

If we change how the waitlist uses your data, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
